The EMRB's Sub-Regional Housing Needs Assessment Framework was the focus of a breakout session November 14 during Calgary's Opening Doors Conference in recognition of National Housing Month.

On November 22, the federal government released its new National Housing Strategy. See it here: A Place to Call Home

The well-attended presentation in Calgary, made by EMRB Regional Projects Manager Stephanie Chai and project consultants from Gordon and Associates and the Headwater Group, was followed by a workshop where attendees explored ways to undertake similar housing needs assessments to identify gaps  and set housing priorities in their own communities.

Edmonton's Homeward Trust sponsored a National Housing Day Luncheon November 22 featuring Mike Downie, co-founder of the Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund, part of the movement to support reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

National Housing Strategy Day has been recognized since 2000 to raise awareness about housing and homelessness, with locally designed events to focus on the needs of individual communities.
