Members of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board are celebrating their first year operating under a new Regulation effective October 26, 2017.

On that date EMRB was launched as a renewed, smaller, growth management board for a well-defined Edmonton Metro Region, with newly elected members, a new Board Chair.

On the same day the Province approved the Board's award winning Growth Plan. Implementing the Plan is now a main focus of Board agenda, beginning with the development of Regional Agriculture Master Plan led by the RAMP Task Force.

At today's meeting of the Metropolitan Region Servicing Plan (MRSP) Task Force, members will mark the occasion with a cake and coffee at the meeting break.

"We're saving our big celebration for the December Board meeting, where we'll highlight our 10 years of successful collaboration that led to the EMRB today," said Mayor Ray Ralph, MRSP Task Force Chair.

"It's interesting to note that the work of this Task Force is a direct result of the Board's mandate, which was expanded on this day a year ago."

The new EMRB Regulation added Metro Servicing to its original 2008 mandate to develop a long-term growth plan for the Region.
