The regional Geographic Information Services website has been rechristened the Edmonton Metropolitan Region GIS or EMRGIS.

Its look and feel now mirror the EMRB brand, and the region it supports.

EMRB GIS Coordinator Brandt Denham says those maps that are part of the approved 2017 Growth Plan continue reflect the old CRB boundaries, but the change has not materially affected the regional data.

From now on all maps and data will be based on the new Edmonton Metropolitan Region as defined in the 2017 EMRB regulation. Denham says the region's new outer boundaries are the same as the federal Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) boundaries used by Statistics Canada in collecting regional data for Canadian comparative statistics.
