Re-imagine. Plan. Build.

It’s building our Region by design

Regionalism was born out of necessity due to recurring economic boom cycles and exponential growth. Managing this accelerated growth requires vision, collaborative effort, innovation and integrated long-term growth planning. By developing and implementing an award-winning 30-year regional growth plan, Re-imagine. Plan. Build., the EMRB has a roadmap for seamlessly coordinating future growth.

Who we are

The EMRB is one of two provincially-mandated growth management boards in Alberta, focused on enabling responsible growth of the Region.

Our work brings together decision-makers from the 13 largest rural and urban municipalities in the Region, breaking down traditional barriers and boundaries to collectively harness the potential.

EMRB member municipalities

EMRB’s 13 member municipalities, ranging in population from 6,500 to more than 1 million, are adjacent to one another or closely connected. Each municipality appoints an elected official to the Board, traditionally the Mayor.
