First elected to Strathcona County Council in 2017. Currently serving his second term as Mayor.

Mayor Rod Frank and his family first came to Sherwood Park in 1963. A passionate and committed community builder, he brings 30 years of experience in business and law working in telecom, and competition and antitrust law. In the non-profit sector, he has volunteered for more than 15 years in local schools and with school sports teams.

Our diversity is a strength in the Region; it gives a lot of different options and opportunities to residents and industry.

Impact across the Region

Mayor Frank recently took on the role of Chair of the Alberta’s Industrial Heartland Association, where he provides leadership on economic development and diversification, creating jobs, and responsible environmental stewardship

As a champion of a citizen-centred culture, he helps to create the conditions that citizens and businesses need to thrive. He achieves this by removing barriers to accessing services, and unlocking cost savings and innovation through partnerships. 

He also advocates for a prosperous and competitive Region as a member of the Northern Alberta Mayors and Reeves Caucus, and is Vice Chair of Edmonton Global. He also works in close partnership with other municipalities as a representative of the Edmonton Regional Airports Authority, and the Collaborative Economic Development initiative.
