OUR PLAN

Our communities are connected, and our opportunities and challenges are shared.

Regionalism requires deliberate, innovative and collaborative thinking about how we grow together, how we tackle climate resiliency, and create regulatory certainty for those investing in our Region.

Addressing the needs of the present and the opportunities and challenges of the future means planning for growth with different tools and strategies. To maintain the Region’s high quality of life and economic competitiveness, Re-imagine. Plan. Build. provides a compelling vision, seven guiding principles, and six interrelated regional policy areas to guide growth and development over the next 30 years.

Our growth plan prioritizes growing in and up, instead of out, conserving land, and resources for future generations. Responsible growth will mean the Region is financially sustainable, optimizes public investment, and maximizes the use and value of infrastructure and services to benefit future citizens at a cost they can afford.

Responsible growth is also about creating complete communities; communities that improve the quality of life for citizens, build connection, and create a competitive and collaborative spirit to enable the shared success of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.
