Thoughts from the CEO
Our Region has many great leaders that foster thriving communities. As leaders in their own right, our Board members actively seek to hear from thought leaders who help drive innovation and inspire greatness. On May 13, we were pleased to host a group of amazing guest panelists – CEO of Alberta Innovates, President and CEO of Edmonton Elks, Chief of Alexander First Nations, and CAO of Metro Vancouver – who shared their experiences and perspectives on the importance of bold leadership at our Welcome to the Region event. It was an inspiring session for the more than 100 regional municipal and First Nation leaders that attended!
The Relentless Pursuit of Common Goals

It’s an enormous responsibility to plan for the next million people and the additional 450k jobs that are anticipated within the next 25 to 30 years.
It requires building the foundation for future services and infrastructure and creating the conditions for economic prosperity and quality of life for 2.2 million of us to thrive.
To assist the Board in finalizing its updated strategic plan, Board members have been learning about each other’s local realities, discussing potential areas of focus, and considering current and future opportunities. It can be said that the process of understanding one another’s perspectives and what each other values, has as much benefit for Board members as the final plan itself. The plan is expected to be finalized later this year.
