(EDMONTON October 31, 2017) Outgoing Capital Region Board (CRB) Chair, Nolan Crouse today welcomes Dr. Jodi L. Abbott as his successor to Chair the newly renamed Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board. Dr. Abbott is the fourth Chair of the regional growth management board since its inception.

Dr. Abbott has a strong track-record for her collaborative and outcome based approach to developing organizations. As President  & CEO of NorQuest College and Chair of Health City she has demonstrated her ability to bring together diverse groups of individuals to align to a common vision. Dr. Abbott holds a PhD from the University of Alberta and has held senior positions in post-secondary education and healthcare. In addition to her professional experience in complex organizations, Dr. Abbott brings to this role the ability to interface in the global environment as a World and Olympic figure skating judge.

“I am pleased to pass the legacy of the CRB’s success as a collaborative regional forum to the new Board, now led most ably by Dr. Abbott.  Her reputation for inspired leadership and innovation will serve the Board and the Edmonton Metropolitan Region well,” said Crouse.

“I am excited to take on the role of Chair, Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board, given the strong foundation that has been set and the opportunities that lie ahead for the Region. As we work collaboratively we will maximize the talents around the board table and the region to ensure strong growth and prosperity for our citizens,” said Dr. Abbott.    

The first meeting of EMRB is November 9, 2017. Following an orientation, Dr. Abbott will lead the new Board in strategic planning, including the implementation of a new Edmonton Metropolitan Region Growth Plan, and the creation of a Metro Servicing Plan.
