Regional services for regional needs.

REGIONAL SERVICING

Our Metropolitan Region Servicing Plan is a core requirement of our mandate, and our pathway to a more collaborative, efficient, and
cost-effective Region.

Planning and building the services our Region needs to accommodate an additional one million citizens and nearly half a million new jobs is no small feat. Our region needs a collaborative approach to everything from waste collection and recycling, to managing stormwater infrastructure to prevent flooding, to how we respond and support neighbouring municipalities in times of need.

The objectives of the Metropolitan Region Servicing Plan are to identify the services required to support the implementation of the growth plan; to support the optimization of shared services; and, to facilitate orderly, economical and environmentally responsible growth in the Region.

Our region is growing.

As our Region grows, communities will be challenged to provide the services citizens expect at a cost that municipalities can afford.

Municipalities in the Region are being challenged to do more with less and have recognized they’ll no longer be able to go it alone.

Our mandate gave us direction to explore a variety of service areas, as a Region, including transportation, regional transit, water, waste water, storm water, solid waste, and emergency services.

Our growth plan provided further direction for our work by aligning the most pressing servicing needs to regional opportunities for collaboration.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Shared services help us accelerate
growth more efficiently.

Regional collaboration means municipalities can realize opportunities to work together for smart growth to guarantee the services citizens expect and businesses rely on to build a future in the Region.

By sharing resources, information, and capacity to deliver essential services as a region, we can ensure communities have the necessary services and infrastructure in the right place at the right time to accommodate our growing needs.
